Massive subway construction began around the city of Tel Aviv in 2019, which not only blocked major roads and pedestrian crossings, but also obscured places with urban value, and harmed the existing business in the area since no one was able to access it.
״Inside Out״ utilises augmented reality technology, so that passersby can be exposed to the hidden layer behind and under construction sites, thus to keep the old using the new.
The project uses location-based augmented reality technology on the windows along the construction site walls which are replaced with touch screens. Real-time cameras are attached and records what is happening on the other side of the wall, thus the openings still function as windows. However, the surprise kicks in when the screen sensor detects a passerby pausing, activating visual content on the window that reveals the story of the hidden place.
